Past Week's Activities

We went Trunk or Treating at the Kosciusko church Wednesday night. Kaylee went Sing and Treating at school Friday along with a class party. Saturday her school had a small fall festival but she did win at the toy walk after 3 tries. Saturday night FCA had a cookout, bonfire, hayride and a speaker. Sunday, which is today, I guess we are paying for all the fun because Kaylee is running another fever. I really wish she could stay healthy. Here are some pictures from Trunk or Treat.

Tyler was Blues Clues and Kaylee was a Fairy.

Tyler wasn't sure why all these people were actually giving him candy without me saying NO.

FCA's Blackout Pep Rally

This past week the pep rally was on Thursday night. They ask you to were white so the black lights and strobe lights would look neat. Kaylee was a little nervous with the loud music and darkness at first but liked it as long as I held her tight. Tyler could have cared less what they did.

Helping roll up the cheer mats after.

All about Tyler

This is what Tyler thought he should do with his Halloween bucket.

This is his new thing to do. He pulls over our laundry basket and crawls in.

My handsome farmer!

Cupcake Maker

I found this cupcake maker very cheap. Kaylee has been wanting one since last Christmas or longer. You can make individual cupcakes that cook in the microwave within 30 seconds and then it has tools to ice and decorate that she is able to use herself. It was pretty fun and not that much of a mess.

Knot-Head

About 2 weeks ago Tyler busted his head on the edge of the church pew. I thought for a minute as soon as he did it we were headed for stictches but luckily it barely broke the skin. In the picture below he has a cut on his face. He has can lift the top of the cedar chest up but doesn't do so well putting it down. I really hope all these bumps and bruises are not "preparing" me for things down the road!

Turpin Dorm

This is where we have been living since July 25th. We still have no clue when we will move again. I met the couple they are interviewing for the dorm we are living in today. It is making me nervous because there is no way I can move 2 more times!

FCE Junior High Homecoming

French Camp Elementary has a Junior High Homecoming. John escorted one of the 8th grade maids.

FCA Mini Cheer Camp

Kaylee took part in the Mini-Cheer Camp again this year. The practiced one afternoon and then the following Friday they performed at half-time. Kaylee was in her element. She gets to hang out with they cheerleaders a lot and has even "practiced" with them if she gets to the gym while they are in there.

Tyler's first experience with the Panther mascot. He loved it! He grabbed all over him and gave him five. He wants to get at him anytime he sees him.

From First Day to First Report Card

Kaylee had been on a waiting list for the Pre-K program since April. She finally got to start school the week before Labor Day. She got her first report card September 30th. She is really thriving and she loves her teacher. She begs to stay all day and nap at school so I have been letting her stay on Fridays. Her teacher calls them Fun-Day Fridays. They get ice cream if they haven't gotten in trouble all week. So far she has gotten ice cream every Friday.

Playing Catch Up!

Hey Everybody! Sorry I have not been posting lately. Things have been a little out of ordinary for us. We moved onto the campus of French Camp Academy July 25th. We are in temporary housing and have no clue as to when we will get into our permanent place. The temporary place is fine and we have plenty of room but we do have a room across the hall that is full of boxes. We aren't able to get "settled" because we know we will be moving at some point. We started with the bare minimum unpacked to function but the longer we are here the more that seems to get unpacked. Luckily the next move will only be to the other side of campus.

We are using FCA computer and networked internet they already had installed in this temporary place right now. We had some issues with it at first because they were changing their security filters so I was blocked out of certain websites for a while but that is all fixed. Also, I'm not sure I will be able to download my camera software so I will not be able to post pictures. I have been so busy I haven't even tried it yet.

Kaylee had been on a waiting list for the Pre-K class here and finally got in last week. She loves school but is having to adjust to being so worn out everyday. She went to FCA's Mini Cheer Camp yesterday afternoon for the second year. They will perform at Friday nights game. In the last 3 weeks she and Tyler have had the "hand, foot and mouth disease" virus and she had a bladder infection. He sent us straight to the hospital to have a bladder scan done because he seems to think all her random fevers last year, when her pediatrician did flu swabs but no urine tests, could have been bladder infections. I had to go to the doctor with awful muscle spasms down the left side of my body. The medication and ice has seemed to help. I only pray the pain doesn't come back when the meds run out. For the last week I have been fighting sinus infection symptoms but have refused to go to the doctor because we have been so much lately. I have to take Kaylee back for a re-check on the bladder infection today so I might have him take a look while I'm there.

Tyler is growing with leaps and bounds. He still isn't saying much but there is no doubt he knows what we are saying. He also gets his point across. His temper is certainly showing. He is still pretty laid back but is wide ope at that same time. He has to be doing something constantly. He can show you touchdown and loves any kind of ball or book.

John is teaching 4 classes, coaching JV and Varsity Boys Basketball and Varsity Girls Basketball. He has also agreed to help the softball coach when he is needed. He had basketball tryouts a couple of Saturday's ago and had 20+ tryout for boys and girls. He cut down to 13 which was a hard decision for him because many are here because of self-esteem issues. He and I are on activities duty one weekend a month. Last Sunday was our first Sunday with the Huntsville Church of Christ where John will be working with on a part-time basis. Two basketball boys showed up last Wednesday night wanting to go to church with John and then 8 boys have said they are going this Sunday. It is a "fellowship meal" Sunday so I'm sure that didn't sway them in any way. It really looks as if John is thriving and is letting God use him in the life of these kids.

I have been dorm subbing one day a week for a girls dorm. The house parents get one day off a week so I take on their daily responsibilities for that day. I am responsible for 13 girls from 6:00 in the morning to 10:00 at night every Tuesday. John and I swapping the kids back and forth has worked out good so far but it will be difficult when basketball season starts. When we move we will be across the road from the dorm I sub for which will be helpful. I have also agreed to sub one Saturday a month for a another girls dorm which has mostly 9th and 10th graders. The first time with those girls was, for lack of a better term, AWFUL!!!! I had two girls get into a fight, verbal and physical. One girl threatened to run away and did the next day. I am suppose to sub again this Saturday so maybe things will be better?

There is a lot more that can be said but I know you have better things to do. Thanks for taking the time to catch up on what has been happening with us and I will try to get pictures going. God Bless You all.

Packing???

This is Kaylee and Tyler's idea of packing!
Our realtor called us yesterday and our closing date as been moved up from August 7th to the end of next week. That gives us about 2 weeks to be out of the house. As of yesterday we still had no housing on the campus of French Camp. It looks like they have finally found a place that has enough room to accommodate us temporarily until we can move into more permanent housing. It has been a roller coaster of emotions and I still am not crazy about not knowing how long the temporary set up will be. It will certainly make things more difficult. However, I think God is trying to teach me something out of all this. He is in control and that I can't be. He will take care of you no matter what the situation, even if you wouldn't have done it that way. He also blesses in all situations. These are only a couple of the many things I am having to come to terms with the past few days. The next time I blog will probably be from French Camp but don't expect it to soon! I will be a little busy for some reason.

Teething Basketball Star

This picture might not do it justice but there has been drool all over my house. He has had 6 teeth for the longest with no sign of anymore until the last couple of weeks. One finally broke through on the bottom but he has seemed very uncomfortable so there may be more coming. He looks older with every tooth.

Kaylee and John got this out for the first time in forever the other day. Tyler took the ball from John and put in the goal. John didn't even show him what to do. John grabbed the video camera immediately. Oh brother!!!!

Dairy Queen and UPDATE

We were in Jackson a few weeks ago and went to a Miskelly's Furniture. It huge and is as much of a play place as it is a furniture store. It has a carousel, a small indoor basketball court and a home theater where Kaylee watched a little Disney.

After we of course had to hit the DQ Grill and Chill. Tyler having his first taste of DQ.

Kaylee after DQ ice cream! Mercy....
A lot has happened in 3 weeks! We have a contract for the sale of our house after 3 weeks on the market. We are praying nothing falls through. We also found out that our place at French Camp will probably not be ready until sometime in August now. Our closing date, Lord willing, will be on or before August 7th with 7 days to vacate after the closing date. August 7th is also the second day of school at FCA. We are trying not to worry too much and focus on what has to be done between now and then but the fact is we may be homeless for a couple of weeks. The Lord has provided for us abundantly through the years and I have no doubt he will see us through this difficult transition time. Kaylee is very excited especially since we are slowly starting to put things in boxes now. She HAD to pack her books today. I guess she is like her Mom. It makes her feel like something is getting done. The home inspector came today and John is scared to death he is going to have a list of major issues. That should really be our only hang up considering the buyer is pre-qualified for his loan. Please say a few extra prayers on our behalf throughout the next month! Thank you all for following the blog and our family. God Bless to all.

Gardens and Sprinklers

We planted a small garden after a one year hiatus. We have gotten a few grape tomatoes which I have not yet had the privilege to taste. Kaylee washes them and eats them as soon as they come off the vine. We also got our first squash the other day. The squash plants are taking over.

Kaylee thinks when the sprinkler comes out so does the swim suit!

Oh Tyler!

Peeking around the corner after I kept telling him not to go in the there. I guess he is seeing if I'm really serious.

He likes to sit on this stool for some reason.

I find him either playing in the dog bowl or putting things in it too many times to count a day. This is the look I get after telling him no.
